When you happen to be near Pescocostanzo, do not miss to visit this wonderful forest called Bosco di Sant'Antonio (Saint Anthony). It was created in 1985, it has an extension of over 500 hectares and is part of the National Park of Majella. Nature here has been preserved intact for centuries. There are many beautiful trees, most of them hundreds of years of age: beeches, maples, pears, yews, turkey oaks, cherry-trees.
Flowers here include many protected species: gentian, peony, hellebore and many others.
The fauna comprises the woodpecker, the tree-creeper, the missel-thrush, the sparrow-hawk, the buzzard. Among mammals live here the wolf, the fox, the weasel, the badger.
